What to do with regrets?

Regrets are one of the biggest reasons behind the sadness in our daily life. Sometimes they just never seem to go away. Sometimes we feel so helpless, just thinking about the wrong decisions we took. But every situation has a positive and a negative side like a coin.



Sometimes in life we take some decisions which upsets us or the people around us. Which we generally call it as a mistake. It becomes difficult for us to forget and we suffer for a long time by just thinking about it and thinking that we could have changed it and life would have been a bit better. Most of the time what happens is, we prepare for a situation and think that we would react to it in a certain way but when we are in that situation we are not able to control our actions. Therefore we end up acting in a completely different way.



First thing we need to understand is that we need to be able to differentiate between things that we did to someone or someone did to us intentionally and things that happened unintentionally. For example while we sleep at night we don't wake up in the same position. It happens automatically or unintentionally. Sometimes while cooking the proportion of salt isn't according to everyone's taste and that is why we always keep salt on the table to make it taste right according to our preference, similarly if we understand life in that way, no matter how bad something is or how worse the situation is, it's always different through different peoples perspective and we cannot change it.



We should always take things lightly in order to be happy and enjoy life. There is no good in regretting over our past decisions. It is always better to let go and just live in the present. Sometimes we also worry about the future, thinking that our past decisions will affect our future. Maybe something good will come out of it or something bad will. So there is no need to get stressed about something we do not have control over and spending some precious moments of our life in sadness.

Some people are there who think and expect everyone to be perfect. Which means they think that making a mistake is unforgivable. So, they hold on to the mistakes and get sad by remembering it. That makes us even more sad and frustrated. No one is perfect. We are all human beings, we need to forgive and help each other in this journey of life. We will meet people who will take some decisions that will affect us in a negative way. So we need to learn to let go instead of holding on to the negative feelings.



Sometimes things happen in our lives which we don't expect. But because of some random reasons it does happen. So we need to let it go rather than holding on to it. What has happened has happened and we cannot change it and we should keep walking forward in life.
